Baseball

2010 playoffs. Your Lobos fought right down to the very last out of
Friday nights game against the Elgin Wildcats beating them 13-12.
Leading hitters for your Lobos were Cesar Ornelas and Chris Tello
with 3 hits each and Tre Abeita and Jp Flores each with 2 hits each.
Jp Flores, Orlando Banda, Nick Cerda, and Michael Andrade put
together 7 innings of pitching with Andrade getting the win. With
this win your Lobos are in 4th place and have the upper hand over

Tennis
John Martin and Penelope Kittle qualified
for the UIL State Tennis Tournament in Austin by playing some really
great symbiotic tennis. It was beautiful. Because of our record
and strength of schedule we thought we could gain a seed, which did
not happen. So, unseeded John and Pene beat the 6, 4, and 1
seeds to earn silver and a trip to the prestigious State Tournament
in Austin. One of only 8 teams in 4A in all of Texas. Impressive
to say the least.
We were expecting Adolfo Gonzalez to
defend his regional title and get back to the state tournament but
this did not happen. The boys singles draw was extremely tough.
Adolfo just had a bad day. He lost in the semifinals and placed 4th
out of 16 in our region. That's still pretty good. He is just a
sophomore and I'm sure will use this experience as motivation in the
future.
Desiree Kittel played a wonderful match in
the quarterfinals. Three sets, a tie break, and a match
point.....this one really hurt because she played so well against a
quality opponent. All four girls that made the semifinals were
senior super champs so for Des to be in the mix with that group
really says a lot about what kind of player she is. She is only
going to get better and for sure will be back next year.
Your tennis team left a lasting impression
on Region 3. They are glad to get rid of us. A sentiment that was
relayed to me more than once.
Please take a moment to congratulate those
above and the entire team for a really great year of tennis.
Two more weeks to State!

The Lady Lobos softball team ended their
historic season last night by defeating Del Valle 5-3 in 11

Senior, Feliziana Torres, reached 1st base with a hit; followed by
Monique Johnson's walk. Freshman standout Jules Hernandez drove in
the the game tying runs with a triple to left center field. After 3
and a half extra innings, Jessica Gonzales was at second when Cydney
Ervin had a base hit leaving runners on 2nd and 3rd with senior

Softball Announcement
Your Lehman Lady Lobos traveled to
Lockhart last night to face the 12th ranked softball team in the
state. Lockhart had a 3 year home winning streak going into last
nights game. Your Lady Lobos put an end to that streak, by winning
3-1. This is the first victory over Lockhart in the 5 years of
varsity play. Great clutch hits by Jules Hernandez, Liz Valderaz,
Cydney Ervin, Feliziana Torres, Mikayla Wenzel, and Monique Johnson
help score the necessary 3 runs. These girls also played great
defense along with, Keke Holmes, and Alicia Garcia. Ashliegh
Hildebrand had a great game on the mound, only surrendering 1 run on
4 hits. It was truly a team effort. Wish them luck as they keep
their playoff hopes alive. They are currently tied for 4th place
with 3 games left.

of the season.
The Varsity Boys also had some season best
performances by Justin Torres set a school record in the 300 Hurdles

Good Job LOBOS.
3/2/2010 Lobo
Boy's Soccer at Canyon Lake
Your Lobos traveled to Canyon Lake last
night.
The JV quickly took a 3-0 lead that held
until halftime. After a defensive lapse allowed a Canyon Lake goal,
your Lobos tacked on two more goals and won, 5-1. Scoring for the
Lobos was Adolfo Gonzalez with two, as well as Chris Lumbreras,
Hector Castillon, and Sean Korzeniewski.
The varsity came out and dominated the
game from the word go. Although no goals were scored in the first
half, your Lobos pummeled the Canyon Lake goal with shots. However,
that would not matter. A lucky bounce allowed Canyon lake to take a
1-0 lead, and despite blistering the goal from all angles your Lobos
could not find the equalizer. The match ended 1-0.
3/2/2010 Lady

held until halftime. Your Lobos adjusted and scored three goals in
the last 15 minutes to win 3-1. Oscar "the weapon" Prado scored
twice while Alfonso "Moon" Gonzalez scored the third goal.
The cost of victory was heavy for the

to be taken off the field by ambulance. Please keep positive
thoughts as he goes through the healing process.
Thank you
to all the loud and supportive fans who came out Friday night. You
are all appreciated.

Varsity Tennis Results
The tennis team followed up last weeks
1st place finish
with another strong overall performance.
In a sea of 5A programs, we placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in 3 of the 5
most competitive divisions. Additionally we were the only 4A
representation in the semifinals in those 3 divisions. (boys
singles, girls singles and mixed doubles).
We have not heard where we fell as a team
because points are being tallied, but I think we will end up in the
top 5 of over 25 teams. Pretty good in a really strong
tournament.
Below are individual results. Please
take a moment to congratulate them on a job well done.
John Martin and Pene Kittel won 4 of 5
matches, losing a close one in the finals to 5A Harlingen.
Coach Castillo says it could of gone either way. 2nd place out
of 32 teams is not bad. They are 13-2 now as a mixed
doubles team and continue to improve.
Desiree Kittel lost in the semifinals to
the 12th ranked 18 year old in Texas. Des hung around as best
she good. She did a great job, especially for a Sophmore, in a
really strong semifinal bunch of 5A seniors. She won 3 of 5
matches and finished fourth out of 32 girls. She is 12 and 3
this semester.
Adolfo Gonzalez finished 3rd overall.
He was the 4th seed. This is an indicator of the level of
competition at the tourney. He lost to the number one seed (a
top 100 player in the nation) in a very close 3 set match.
Again, it could have gone either way. Adolfo won 4 of 5
matches. He has not yet peaked this season and is only
going to get better.
Our favorite Brazialian, Tiago Galbier,
won 3 of 5 matches and finshed 4th in the Champ B division. He
did a good job after a tough first round loss.
Courtney Garza and Royce McCabe finished
2nd in another mixed doubles draw called the Tournament Division.
The level of play in that division is not as tough but still a
worthy accomlplishement. Andrea Villalobos and Abby Martin won
3 of 4. Mark Fernandez and Michael Lipple each won a couple of
matces, as did Fabiola Rochell and Maririah Tarrango. Our
European doubles team (Lena W. and Laura M.)also notched a win.
Oh, almost forgot about Ziggy Santana and
Chase McCabe. They won 2 and lost 1.
Overall it was a good weekend.
Grizzwaldish at times, but nice. Coach Castillo cant wait to do it
again. Thank you Derica for tagging along and putting up with
the sometimes needy ones in the group.

Boys Soccer
Your Lobos took the show across the
highway last Friday to play Hays.
The jv-b played solid defense and
Cristian "Chongo" Martinez provided the match's lone goal. Your
jv-b won, 1-0.
The jv-a played a very even match with
Hays. After tying the match 1-1, your Lobos could not score on
numerous opportunities in the second half. A late Hays goal
proved the difference and the match ended 2-1.
The varsity come our aggressive and
nearly took the lead in th opening seconds. In a highly
contested first half your Lobos fell behind 3-0. Depite
putting pressure on hays in the second half, your Lobos could
not find the net and fell, 3-0.

Winning first place in three of the 5

Others that played well were Tiago Galbier,
Royce McCabe, Courtney Garza, Laura Macaroone, Lena Weise, Ziggy

Lady Soccer JV & Varsity beat Seguin
Your Lady Lobos went to Seguin looking for
only one thing.. a win. The players played with a lot of heart and
passion, winning both the JV and varsity games by a score of 5 -0.
JV opened up with two quick goals and
never let up from there. Defense once again played an outstanding
game lead by Stephanie Hernandez, Gabby Cortez and Yesnia "the Foot"
Marquez. Goals were shared equally through out the team. Lesly
Gonzales Escriba scored 2 goals, Stephanie Favela, Ariana Galagos,
and Yajaira Orozco scored one each. Goalie Victoria Salinas
captured her third shut out this year.
Varsity played a tough first half, but
once they scored a goal they couldn't stop. Offense came from
Domino Jaquez who scored 4 goals and had one assit. Amara Smith
added the other goal and had two assist. Our goalies Demi
Castillo and April Martinez insured a shut out with tough aggressive
play and Megan Medrano strong defensive
play helped to seal the win.

Men's Basketball beat Hays to complete season
Your men's varsity basketball team
completed their season last night defeating the Hays Rebels by a
score of 51-45. The Rebels started the game by scoring on their
first two possession, but from that point on, your Lobos seized
control of the game. By halftime, your Lobos had taken complete
control of the game leading 27-20. In the second half, your Lobos
fought off several comeback attempts by the Rebels. In the end, it
was your Lobos' DETERMINATION and WILL to WIN that proved to be too
much for Hays to overcome.
In his last game as a Lobo, senior,
Jonathan Garrion led the team in scoring as he scored a game high 20
points. The Lehman basketball coaching staff would like to thank
Jonathan for his contributions to the basketball program, and we
wish him the very best with his future.

Juan Gordillo paced the attack with 1 goal and 3 assists, and Oscar
Martinez and Alfonso Gonzalez each added 2 goals.
Your Lobos next take on Canyon Lake on
Friday here at the sandbox. Come out and cheer your Lobos to

Your nomadic Lobos once again moved their
games to Shelton Stadium Friday.
The varsity team jumped all over Canyon
Lake early and often. Fernando Mercado led the squad with three
assists, and Erick Dieguez scored two goals. Also scoring for the
Lobos were Juan Gordillo and Alfonso Luna. Al Ruiz notched his 4th
and team's 8th shut-out of the season.
The JV team again had to play on Saturday
at Shelton because of field conditions. Your Lobos defeated Canyon
Lake 2-0 behind a strong defensive unit of Hector Rodriguez, Sean
Korzeniewski, Chris Lumbreras, and Edward Vargas. Scoring for the
Lobos were Eli Guajardo and Hector Castillon.
Next up is Seguin on Tuesday here,
(somewhere within the district). Stay tuned for updates.

2/3/2010 Lady
Lobo Varsity Soccer make history tie vs Hays
Congratulations to the Lady Lobos Soccer
Teams for outstanding performances last night against the Hays
Rebels.
It was a night to remember for the Varsity
Team with a history making tie against the heavily favored Rebels.
The favored Rebels kept the pressure high the entire night but the
Lady Lobos did not give up. They were determined not to give up a
goal at home. Dominique Jaquez and Valeria Diaz kept the Rebels out
of the penalty box. Haley Parsons and Melinda Perez shut out the
Rebels midfield. Both goalkeepers April Martinez and Demi Castillo
insured the shut out. Way to go Lobos!
JV opened the night with a 3 - 0 shut out. Freshman Goalkeeper Victoria Salinas recorded her second
shut out of the season keeping the pressuring Rebels out of the goal
with help from defenders Ashley Endicott and Yesenia Marquez. Goals were
scored by Gabby Cortez, Stephanie Hernandez, and Freshman Sabrina
Lawlor.
2/3/2010 Lady
Lobo Basketball loses to Manor
Your Lady Lobo Basketball team lost to a
tough and quick Manor team 54-40 last night. The girls played an
inspired second half only to come up short to the playoff bound
mustangs.
The Lady Lobos will be in action Friday night at San
Marcos.
2/3/2010 Lobo
Basketball
Your men's varsity basketball team lost
their re-match with district rival Manor last night by a score of
58-41. The game was really much closer than indicated by the final
17 point margin. Your Lobos played an awesome first half against
the Mustangs controlling every aspect of the game and growing a lead
of 8 at one point before surrender a few 3-point baskets. At
halftime your Lobos led 26-25. Unfortunately, it was in the third
period where the game was lost. Your Lobos lost their composure and
had many unforced turnovers which led to easy Mustang points. Your
Lobos where outscored 18-2 in the third period. Your Lobos managed
to find their composure for the final 8 minutes and ended up trading
baskets with the Mustangs, but obviously, the damage had already
been inflicted. Again, your Lobos lost by a final of 58-41.
The Lobos will be in action again, here in
the Lobo Den, Friday night as they will have a chance to avenge an
overtime loss to the San Marcos Rattlers.
2/3/2010
Lobo Soccer vs Rebels
Your Lobos traveled across the
highway last night to take on the Rebels.
Hays came out firing on all cylinders
and built a 2-0 halftime lead against the jv-a squad. Your
Lobos fought back in the second half, netting a goal with 15
minutes left. That's where the scoring would end. Your Lobos
had a late chance, but a missed penalty kick ensured the Hays
victory.
Your Lobo varsity squad came out
aggressive against Hays. A couple of defensive breakdowns led
to a 2-0 deficit, but Oscar Martinez closed the gap to 2-1 at
halftime. That is as close as it would get. Hays tacked on
three more goals to win 5-1.
Next up is New Braunfels Canyon on
Friday. Stay tuned for game locations and times.
1/25/2010 Lobo Men's Basketball defeat Lockhart
Your men's varsity basketball team
defeated district rival Lockhart last night, 58-48. Your Lobos had
a great shooting night as they hit 8 3-point shots, 6 of which were
in the first half. The 3-point barrage helped your Lobos jump out
to a 34-21 halftime lead. Your Lobos cooled off a little in
the third period, but still managed to
trade baskets with the Lions and kept a 11 point margin heading into
the fourth period. Late in the game, the Lions cut the Lobos' lead
to 4 points on two different occasions. Despite valiant fight, your
Lobos' determination proved to be too much for the Lions to overcome
as your Lobos made some clutch free throws down the stretch and
finally reestablished their grip on the game.
1/25/2010 Lady Lobo Basketball beat Lockhart
Your Lady Lobo Basketball team won a
thriller at Lockhart last night in overtime 72-69. The girls
trailed most of the night before tying it up at the end of
regulation. A big three pointer and clutch free throws in overtime
sealed the victory. Your Lady Lobos are at home next Tuesday
against Manor in a must win game to keep their playoff hopes alive.
1/25/2010 Lobo Men's Basketball
Your men's varsity basketball team lost a
heartbreaker to the Hays Rebels last Friday night, 40-44. After a
back-&-forth first half, your Lobos hit a long range 3-pointer to
take a 3 point advantage in to the halftime period with the score
27-24. The third period saw the Lobos take a 5 point lead at 31-26;
however, the Rebels took advantage of crucial mistakes and fought
back in the game. In what was a very intense game, the Rebels out
executed your Lobos down the stretch in the fourth period and
prevailed in victory.
After this loss, your Lobos are now tied
with Elgin and Hays for the final playoff spot with six games left.
Your Lobos still have their eyes on making
history and making the playoffs for the first time in school history
and need your support as the next chapter in the HUNT for the
PLAYOFFS comes tomorrow night. Your Lobos take on the Lockhart
Lions here in the Lobo Den. Please help us PACK the DEN and come
and support your Lobos to victory. Game times are 5:30 and 7:00pm.

close match against the San Marcos Rattlers. Kyra Meaux scored
an outstanding header from a Melinda Perez's corner kick. The
score remained 1 - 0 with an a full field battle for both teams.
Outstanding goal keeping by April Martinez kept the Rattlers out of

left.

Rangel.

shooting night led to the defeat.

1/20/2010 Lady Lobo Soccer defeat Crocket
Congratulations to both the JV and Varsity
girls soccer teams for defeating Crocket High School last night.
The JV team put on a great performance in
their 6 - 0 victory. Outstanding goal keeping by Zaida Gaytan and
Victoria Salinas kept the shut out in tact all night long. Goals
scored by Yajaira Orozco, Stephanie Favela, Yesenia Marquez, Jessica
Castro. Ashley Endicott finished the night with 2 goals and 2
assists.
The Varsity team closed the night with a 3
- 2 victory. Outstanding defense by Valerie Ortiz and spectacular
midfield play by Melinda Perez kept Lehman on the attack the entire
night. The Lobos took the lead with a goal by Rebekah Johnson off a
left side cross by Kyra Meaux. Kyra then gave the
Lobos a 2 - 0 lead at the close of the 1st
half with a great flag pass from Haley Parsons. Dominique "Domino"
the grandma finished the Lobos' scoring with an outstanding shot
outside of the penalty box. The Cougars scored two goals at the end
of the first half but April Martinez made sure that they did not tie
the game with a great last minute save. April finished the night
with 8 saves.
1/20/2010 Lobo Men's Basketball beat Elgin
Your men's varsity basketball team won a
hard fought battle with district foe Elgin last night in the Lobo
Den. Your Lobos raced out to an impressive 1st period lead of 18-7
using outstanding hustle and perfect execution. The 2nd period saw
Elgin claw back into the game by taking advantage of some sloppy
offensive play by your Lobos, and at the half the Lobos' lead had
fallen to a mere 2 points. The second half saw two very hungry
teams battle it out with your Lobos taking the upper hand in the 3rd
period as they stretched their lead to 35-29. But, just like the
first half, Elgin fought back and took a late 4th period lead with
about 2 minutes to play. That is when your Lobos' character,
determination and grit took over the game. The Lobos took the lead
for good on a offensive tip-in, and then used suffocating defense to
deny the Wildcats any chance to push the game into overtime. The
final score Lehman 42, Elgin 39!!
Your Lobos continue their HUNT for the
PLAYOFFS on Friday as they take the Hays Rebels at Hays. Your Lobos
are challenging everyone who is not attending the girls game here to
come over and support the Lobos in their battle with the Rebels.
1/19/2010 Lady Lobo Power Lifting
Your Lobos grabbed their scuba gear
and headed off to Manor Friday night.
The JV team played a great defensive
game and corralled the Mustangs to the tune of 4-0. Christian
"Bubba" Sepulveda scored two goals and assisted on another and
keeper Andres Castro recorded his first shut-out.
Varsity did not fair so well. For the
second game in a row, your Lobos dug a deep hole in the first
half they could not recover from. Juan Gordillo provided the
lone goal in a 4-1 loss.
1/19/2010 Lady Lobo Soccer in Rebel Cup
It was a long, wet and cold Hays Rebel
Cup. We got knocked down and pushed around but we kept getting
up and fighting. The Lady Lobos out shot and out played Bandera
High School 1 - 1. We had an early lead off a beautiful 30 yard
shot from Kyra Meaux but we couldn't finish late in the game and
Bandera tied it 1 - 1. We also lost Amanda Valdez to a knee
injury. She will be having surgery on Thursday. Wish her
well. She has come a long way in her soccer and was voted
Junior Captain by the girls.
1/14-16/2010 HAYS SOCCER REBEL CUP STARTS THURSDAY JANUARY 14TH
The Varsity and JV schedules can be found
on the SPORTS
page.
1/13/2010 Men's Varsity Basketball Character
Your men's varsity
basketball team demonstrated tremendous determination, fight and
character last night as they battled back from a 19 point, 4th quarter,
deficit to force an overtime segment with the San Marcos Rattlers. Your
Lobos got off to a great start in a back and forth 1st period which
ended with a 1 point Rattler advantage. However, in the 2nd and 3rd
periods, your Lobos found it very difficult to put the ball in the
basket being outscored 28-12. After scoring on their first offensive
possession of the 4th period, the Rattlers held a commanding 40-21
lead...that's right, your Lobos where down by 19 points with only 7
minutes to play.
This is when your Lobos'
TRUE character went on display. A defensive steal ignited an incredible
21-2 run. Your Lobos used defensive pressure and offensive
aggressiveness to claw back into the game. Your Lobos competed their
amazing comeback and tied the game at 42-42 as the buzzer sounded and
time expired.
Unfortunately, your Lobos
ended up losing the game in overtime by a final score of 56-48. In what
was an incredible comeback, your Lobos now drop to 1 & 2 in district.
Your Lobos will be in action again Friday night against Del Valle, here
in the Lobo Den.
1/13/2010 Lobo Men's Soccer
Your Lobos traveled to
Round Rock last night to take on the Westwood Dragons.
The JV-B came out strong
and disciplined and pulled out a 2-1 victory. This marks the first-ever
win for the JV-B team. Congrats to all those guys!
The JV-A did not fare so
well. A very good Warrior team handled your Lobos to the tune of 5-0.
The varsity squad came out
against the Warriors and found themselves up 1-0 on a goal by Juan
Gordillo. However, this goal woke
the Warriors and by halftime your Lobos were down 4-1. This score held
until the end of the match, which ended prematurely due to an injury.
Your Lobos next travel to Manor on Friday to take on the defending
district champion Mustangs.
1/13/2010 Lady Lobo
Basketball
The Lady lobo Basketball team lost a
heartbreaker to San Marcos last night 49-45. They fell behind early
20-6 but battled back to make a game of it. They Lady Lobos district
mark is 2-3, but still right in the thick of it for a playoff spot.
They are on the road the next two games against Del Valle and Elgin, and
back at home next Friday against Hays.
1/11/2010
Your varsity boys came home as champs!
These young men worked very hard through horrible weather to qualify
for the finals and beat Hays 2-0 behind goals from Oscar Garcia and
Oscar Martinez. Riley Higgins and Jose Rangel had stand-out games
defensively. Al Ruiz and Joey Martinez combined for the Lobos third
shut-out in four games.
Thanks to all who braved the Arctic
weather to support the team. You are all appreciated.
If you see Coach
Sansom today congratulate him on career wins # 200, 201, and 202.
1/11/2010 Lobo
Basketball
Your men's varsity basketball team lost a
sea-saw battle with district foe Manor on Friday night. Despite an
awesome defensive effort which had the Mustangs confused and
frustrated all game long, your Lobos had their own struggles putting
the ball in the basket. After taking a 24-20 lead into the half,
your Lobos managed a mere 4 points in the 3rd quarter and ended up
being down, 28-31 after the 3rd quarter. Showing great fight in the
4th quarter, your Lobos managed to wrestle the lead away from the
Mustangs and take a 37-36 lead with about 3 minutes to play in the
game; however, that would be the last time the Lobos had the
advantage. In the end, the Lobos were disappointed by a 39-45
loss.
Your Lobos are now 1 & 1 in district play
and hope to rebound from this loss at San Marcos tomorrow night.
Game times are 5:30 & 7:00pm. Come out and support your Lobos.

individual performance goes to Senior Captain Amanda Garcia
